Lorraine J. McMunn

Lorraine J. McMunn, 63, of Dixon, died July 19, 2009, in her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She worked as a HAB-TEC for Kreider Services in Dixon prior to her early retirement. She also worked for many years as a waitress in the Dixon area, as well as at True Value Hardware and Anchor Coupling.

Lorraine was born March 30, 1946, in Savanna, IL, the daughter of Sheldon and Hazel (Hendrick) Helle. She married Robert Sites in Savanna in 1962; they were divorced. She was then married to Kenneth W. McMunn; they were eventually divorced in 1986. Lorraine attended Chestnut Park School and Savanna High School in Savanna, IL. She graduated from Sterling School of Cosmetology and was a beautician for many years. She graduated from Nebraska Western College with an Associates Degree in Human Relations. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Sterling, IL, ward, a founding member of Al-Alnon of Carroll County, and a previous board member of the Carroll County Mental Health Alliance. She loved watching movies and spending time with her grandchildren, and her friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Celeste Hope (Jeremy) Thompson of Clinton, WI, and Amber Faith (Henry Harris) McMunn of Dixon; a son, Preston Wayne (Stephanie) McMunn of Dixon; grandchildren, Zachary Kirk (Renee Nicole Rodriguez) Lightner, Michaela Lorraie Greenwalt, MaKenzie Lorraie Gibson, Kiana Faith Gibson, and Brooklynn Shannon Alyssa McMunn; step-great-granddaughter, Mya Esperanza Rodriguez; a sister, Louise (Konrad) Radke; a brother, Harley Vincent (Lorraine R. Helle) Helle, both of Savanna; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and special friends, too many to name.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kirk Edward Sites; a brother, Lyle Raymond Helle; a grandson, Tanner Vincent Aiden McMunn.

She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her very special family, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 23, 2009, at the Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon, with William F. Stocks Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Sterling, officiating. Visitation will be from 6 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, and 10:00 a.m., until time of services, Thursday, at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded.
