A paper which I wrote about a Mother's careworn weary praying hands came from a vivid memory of rushing past the shut bedroom door to tell Mom of the latest crisis, and slowly
creeping out because I was about to interrupt a Mother'sPrayer.
Dad had had to help me shut the gate because I couldn't get it by myself and he cautioned me to be quiet and listen. How many sounds could I hear? We counted until we got at
least ten or twelve different sounds. I have tried never to forget to be quiet but to hear the sounds of life around me.
